IN THE LIGHT OF A SHADOW | MASS MOCA 2020-21
Role : Pre-visualization and Fabrication Design
'In the Light of the Shadow' was installed at Mass Moca in their building 5 space from April of 2021 to September.
In the early portion of the pandemic, our team was charged with redesigning a show for Mass Moca's massive building 5 space. Our initial designs for much larger sculptures were scrambled, so we opted to design a show around the shadows cast from small sculptures. I began modeling the new ideas in Rhino, and we began to modify some of the sculptures to suit the new format.
The large scale sculptural elements I worked on, were the ship formed into an ouroboros in the center of the show, the walkway that ran the length of the show, the mirrored facade at the end of the walkway, and the arrangement of rocks hung throughout the show space.
